First and foremost, EDEN is a community!
Leading with cultural competencies and humility EDEN staff and leadership respect the bravery and history of its clients and are committed to helping overcome barriers preventing change. EDEN’s compassionate case management discovers the root causes of homelessness and current condition of individuals holistically. The Families Empowered Program is a comprehensive initiative that extends vital support to families facing homelessness, guiding them towards the attainment of a stable and secure home, accompanied by a sense of tranquility. Families Empowered provide wraparound case management support where every individual family member in our programming receives one-on-one assistance.
Each participant receives a personalized plan based on EDEN's four foundational PILLARS:
Workforce Development:
86% of people
experiencing homelessness lack the appropriate resources and access to education, job training and skills to qualify for a job
Empowering families with secure employment is a vital pillar of the program for economic mobility. Through partnerships with employers, workforce development centers, and education organizations, EDEN leads professionalism workshops, job training session, career placement, and career growth strategies. The program emphasizes roles that are "Cori-and re-entry friendly," and provides avenues for growth without stringent educational requirements.
EDEN connects participants with adult learning experience and classroom/online training for obtaining jobs in fields such as Certified Nursing Assistant, home health aid, construction and customer service. Participants are matched with jobs that are compatible with their skill levels, aptitude, and interest. EDEN partners with local organizations such as Boston Medical Center to then help participants directly find jobs.
Financial Literacy:
Financial health matters.
As finacial therapist and advisors to families, EDEN focuses on the basics of checking, savings and investment accounts. Parents and their children learn to create personal and family financial goals, develop a monthly budget, and put in place a plan to reduce debt. EDEN also helps prepare participants to obtain housing as renters and first-time home buyers by providing instruction on building credit, navigating mortgage financing, and applying for affordable housing.
Self-Development
In EDEN's efforts to dissmantle the barriers and provide equitable solutions to challenges EDEN leads with empowering families to let their voice be heard. EDEN leverages evidence based research and its' own program evaluation conducted by former participants as valuable insight to contribute to this pillar of work. EDEN helps parents and their children develop and strengthen their communication and interpersonal skills that leads to life skills for long term success. Within this area of focus EDEN curates access to resources that address barriers towards economic mobility by meeting individual needs such as enrollment to educational course, childcare services, transporation and more.
Wellness Training
90% of homeless women
have experienced severe physical or sexual abuse
Through evidence based wellness habits EDEN's workshops and coaching sessions, help families develop improved mental, emotional, social, and psychological well-being. The program helps them learn to address past and current trauma through individual and group therapy. Instruction is provided on parenting, stress management, healthy dating and relationship building, decision making, and physical exercise, as well as on expressive art therapy. Families are living a purposeful and improved healthy life.
